What's great about change?

Change. Transitions. Movement. All great, terrible, awful, lovely, hard and beautiful - at the same time. What's great about change? It can bring absolutely the most rewarding things into our lives that we never knew would show up. It can also be the most agonizing, gross, painful thing we could ever go through. What's the difference?

Lets talk about your brain for a minute. You, my dear, reading this post have a very amazing, brilliant yet lazy brain. We all do. It's nature. We are thinking creatures, but very reactionary at our core. And our thinking is lazy. We create ruts and pathways in our brains that are extremely difficult to get out of. For instance, maybe you have a "friend" who thinks this way: It's always going to be this way or I'm always the one that gets the raw end of the deal. Sound familiar? These thought patterns create ruts in our brains and then we return to them over and over again regardless of the situation.

When it comes to change - our brains are the same way. We think about change - even good change - and our brain processes it as loss. In a brilliant exercise penned by Ken Blanchard, he asks participants in his workshops to "change" 5 things about their appearance with a partner, and then notice the changes. 90% of the participants in this exercise begin by removing something from their bodies - an earring, a ring, a shoe or sock. That's because our brains process change as loss. Think about that a minute. Change = Loss.

No wonder our brains are resistant to change.

What if there was a better way to move through transitions and change? What if you were able to take a step back from your changes or transitions and have some really useful tools that can help you not only get through your transitions, but thrive during them? What would that look like?

Do you have a large or small change or transition in your life right now? Are you contemplating changing careers, relationships, living situations, your mindset or even your hairdresser? These can all be absolutely overwhelming and often we don't know where to start - especially when our brain becomes hijacked with fear or anxiety.

Energy Restoration Therapy is significantly useful for day to day life, but specifically with transitions and learning how to navigate them well. I am now offering support and help through life transitions. This is a three month package that includes two monthly in person or virtual ERT sessions along with weekly transition journaling prompts along with weekly email contact and a few bonus add ons. This package is specifically focused on transitions in your life and provides freedom of fears, change and outcomes with specific strategies to help you get through these changes and thrive.

So what's so great about change? Well, it can be everything. And to be able to thrive within it is the very best part.

xoxo
